The Right Time To Sleep & Wake Up According To Ayurveda
The natural state of rest during which your eyes are closed and you become unconscious is known as sleep. Sleep is one of the most important things you need to do for your body because it is your body's way of recharging itself. When you begin to feel sleepy at night it means that your body has completely drained its energy and it needs to be recharged immediately.
These are few important reasons why sleep is important for all human beings, irrespective of age.
Ayurveda suggests that we should go to bed between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Sleep between 10:00 pm and 12:00 am is the most beneficial for our nervous system. This time is a pitta-dominated time and Pitta is responsible for intellect, creativity, and passion. During this time the subtle body of the mind is resting. The subtle body of the mind enhances the development of thinking, reasoning, and understanding the essence of things.
Sleep between 12:00 am and 2:00 am fills our bodies with the vital energy of prana (life force). During this time period, we can see either nightmares or dreams of joy.
Our body is completely relaxed between 2:00 am and 4:00 am and it's being filled with energy and it's important to be in deep sleep during this time period. Between 4:00 am and 6:00 am is the time of happiness, optimism, and meditation.
The critical time of awakening is 6:00 am. If we get up before that time, enthusiasm, cheerfulness, and lightness will accompany the day. And the family that wakes up before sunrise is naturally happier and more enthusiastic. The reason being a half-hour before sunrise, the sun sends special rays that penetrate the atmosphere and gives energy to the human body. The Japanese researchers have documented this for 20 mins before sunrise, where the biochemistry of the body changes drastically, even the blood changes its composition.
